Stephanie & Brandon’s Vintage Engagement Photos

THE PHOTO STYLE

As a wedding photographer I love shooting in beautiful environments, especially when it’s a backyard engagement. Stephanie & Brandon were such a wonderful couple. They were young, in love, and they knew exactly what kind of photo style they wanted for the engagement photos. At that time I did not have much in my portfolio as far as the exact “look and feel” that they were after but with some careful listening (and observation) I felt I knew just what they were after. And I knew I could deliver on it.

THE SHOOT

Being a vintage style backyard engagement, they already had much of the clothing and props purchased. In fact, most of it was already theirs. We spent much of the day casually setting up one shot after the next in their back yard, and in addition to that we also drove to another location. After meeting the clients for the first time I kept thinking about this one location which I knew would be great and suite them well. It was on someone else’s property in a highly visible part of town. So before the day of their engagement photos I had gone to the home owner and asked permission to shoot on a specific date, they had agreed. The home owner, an elderly woman who was being visited by her daughter at the time, was happy that I had asked. She said they see a lot of photographers and couples walking around their property without permission. At the end of the day we had some great shots.

As you may be able to tell from looking at my other projects I try to deliver a “look and feel” that is unique to the couple. I feel that these antique vintage photos are a great representation of this couples personality and style. Brandon & Stephanie also had me take their wedding photos in this same vintage style but for the purpose of this gallery I am only showing the engagement photos.
